My thoughts also on the connectors Jazz...coax is the key on uhf, well anywhere really...then again what would i know i'm only an m6 :P :lol:

The higher up the spectrum you go the more important good coax AND connectors are. PL259's are crap, lets be honest (so239 sockets). A good n-type is a perfect 50ohm match with amazingly tiny loses. Cheap pl259 plugs can give 2db loss in some cases!

Hello. Soon I will post my PMR setup with home made yagi (two options) and mobile radio. Last time I checked the range with 2W from my side and Baofeng 5r from the other side. 40 miles without problem and can go more.
