Thanks for your reply Buick, unfortunately I do not have a battery that I can try, do you think it maybe an issue with the power supply?Buick Mackane wrote: ↑25 Oct 2023, 10:27Turn off the mains supply in your house and power your radio from a battery (if you have one) and see if the noise persists or notdamhug1980 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2023, 08:17 Hi, my radio is starting to make this noise on most stations, is it something to be worried about or is it normal?

Re: Antenna Advice
I Doubt its a power supply issue, Sounds to me like interference being picked up by your antenna, Unfortunately interference also called QRM is a big problem for a lot of radio users these days, Numerous things can cause it, TV's, Heating Systems, Chargers, Lighting etc etcdamhug1980 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2023, 11:04Thanks for your reply Buick, unfortunately I do not have a battery that I can try, do you think it maybe an issue with the power supply?Buick Mackane wrote: ↑25 Oct 2023, 10:27Turn off the mains supply in your house and power your radio from a battery (if you have one) and see if the noise persists or notdamhug1980 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2023, 08:17 Hi, my radio is starting to make this noise on most stations, is it something to be worried about or is it normal?

Re: Antenna Advice
Hi, I have the THUNDERPOLE SILVER ROD1/2 WAVE antenna bolted to a sky dish pole and I am using a CRT SS6900 radio, I can hear some traffic on it but any time I go to speak, it doesn't seem like anyone can hear me. Can anyone advise how I can check if I have everything set up correctly? I have attached a picture of my antenna.

Re: Antenna Advice
The bracket looks a bit close to the radiating element possibly causing SWR issues

It is just bolted onto the pole, do you think I need to get a larger size pole?Buick Mackane wrote: ↑18 Dec 2023, 10:55 The bracket looks a bit close to the radiating element possibly causing SWR issues

Re: Antenna Advice
Stand off brackets and a pole. Get the bottom of the antenna at least above the guttering. I wouldent like to watch that in high winds at the moment.

Do you know it would be possible to just buy a longer pole to fit into my existing bracket?NightProwler wrote: ↑18 Dec 2023, 11:16 Stand off brackets and a pole. Get the bottom of the antenna at least above the guttering. I wouldent like to watch that in high winds at the moment.

Re: Antenna Advice
If your sure the radio is working and the SWR is good then try and get the antenna up a bit higher

Re: Antenna Advice
Does touch antenna touch he gutter?
IMO length of marked element is wrong.
SWR 1 seem to be too good to be true.

Re: Antenna Advice
No it doesnt touch the guttering at all, I believe that it is at the markings which on the antenna, do you think it should be longer?
