It was channel 19 for calling in my area as I seem to remember. I think the channel 14 for calling died off pretty quickly.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

Back in "the day" it was definitely 14 for the general calling channel and 19 was left for mobiles.
I've no idea why it changed, as it's all just 19 (when there's folk about)

14 got sooooo crowded with literally hundreds of people constantly calling out for copies (and no one getting a chance to answer back!), that some moved to 19 as it wasn't really used much. It then became the norm as numbers died off.

It was indeed so. In my area 14 was regarded as the homebase calling channel and 19 for mobile.

On AM (before CB was legal in the UK) it was just 19. Channel 9 on AM in the UK and UK FM was always the emergency one though.

The number of stations communicating with toy transceivers is gradually increasing in Japan.
Some stations are appearing that are seriously trying to communicate with Guam Island with very low power.
Since 19ch in Japan is illegal, no one uses it.
