Re: CB Antenna projects?
Half wave vertical dipole which actually works.

Re: CB Antenna projects?
Looks like a EFHW to me, How is the impedance matched ? Is it a bazooka ?

Re: CB Antenna projects?
It's around 70 Ohm, no matching needed.
Not EFHW since it's a dipole.

Re: CB Antenna projects?
I found a T2LT to be down on performance over an end fed when I was messing around with them. Probably by about half an S point
Great for temporary locations and portable DX though.

Re: CB Antenna projects?
Rain and high winds stopped play yesterday but the Gallows Pole functions horizontally on a flat roof temporarily for now.
SWR hovers around 2.2:1 and I did hear distant voices today. There was a conversation going on at ch 19 but my attempts to get in on the side went unnoticed.
Erks!

Re: CB Antenna projects?
No wonder. Polarization mismatch is circa 26dB attenuation. 4 s units. Put it vertical.DungButton wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 20:12 Rain and high winds stopped play yesterday but the Gallows Pole functions horizontally on a flat roof temporarily for now.

Also roof, even dielectric, but wet is worsening antenna performance a lot.

Re: CB Antenna projects?
Strange how you can't achieve a decent SWR, Dipoles are pretty easy to tune, Still reckon it's too short.

Re: CB Antenna projects?
Thats a word I haven't heard for a long time, I've never owned one.
Yep, I totally understand that, its just the rain and high winds that prevent me from trying it vertical.
It'll only be a temporary try vertically as the whole structure wobbles like jelly in anything over a light breeze being made of roof battening! Deffo a bit of make do and mend going on here.
I'll try longer 'elements' again and start trimming again to try and get the SWR down if I can get it vertical soon. Still 'orrible weather here. I wonder if its my SWR meter too possibly out of calibration?Buick Mackane wrote: ↑14 Apr 2023, 10:35 Strange how you can't achieve a decent SWR, Dipoles are pretty easy to tune, Still reckon it's too short.
I had another trawl through my old cupboard at Mum's again today, I've found another 2 SWR meters (how many does one guy need?!) and some other goodies I'd totally forgotten about too.
I'll update over on the other thread ( viewtopic.php?t=60604 ) and keep this one going just for antenna fun.

Re: CB Antenna projects?
Connect your SWR meters the other way round to test them
