hi steve did you manage to get any .dat files for the uk upgrade ..if so could you point me in the same direction please ?

I think the easy way to do this is to get the radio connected to the computer and and save a.dat file and make a adjustment to one of the bands that you won't be using and change the frequencies to the UK frequencies which a frequency chart can easily be found for.
Channel 1 is 27.60125 and so on to channel 40 27.99125
