Constant beating Pulse
Hi, I have just setup a simple home rig after 40 years away from CB Radio.
I have a DV27 mag mounted on top of a 40 foot container, using an old Communicator 27/81 and also a more recent Midland 38 27/97.
On receive there is a constant beating pulse about one beat a second, this is across all channels on both radios. Does anyone have any idea what this might be from? Also I have not managed to pickup any activity from other users.
I'm based in Stone Staffs.
Cheers

There's a lot more electrical noise these days compared to when you last used radio 40 years ago. As above run your radio from a battery then switch off the power at the mains, if your lucky the noise will be coming from your own house.

Lucky you. It comes from your house.
So disconnect electrical equipment in your house one by one till you find what makes that noise.
Let us know what was that.

If you can't get rid of the noise try PMR446 there won't be any noise of that band.

I did think about electrical items at home so I will try isolating them this evening.

Re: Constant beating Pulse
Are you urban or rural? First thought for a 1hz pulse would be an electric fencer for farm animal control that is sparking to earth somewhere.

Re: Constant beating Pulse
As above, run a radio off a battery then turn mains switch off and see if it continues. If it does, it's 99% likely it's not on your property.

Powerline interference mostly caused by cheap Chinese tat and internet cables.

Re: Constant beating Pulse
Check the wall-wart type poser supplies and especially check the one on your internet. If you are using copper not fibre - the interference can be carried on the overhead lines. Other culprits are smart meters!
