Stalker 9 issue

Post by NightProwler »

Hey all, My Stalker 9 has developed a problem. If I dead key on SSB it gives a dead carrier on full power, Needle sits around 9+ not 0. Anyone got any ideas? UKFM and everything else is fine.

Cheers...Rich

Could be something as simple as carefully tightening the screws that hold the PCB to the chassis. Or there could be stray RF floating round inside the rig.

First port of call. Remove the top case from the radio then transmit on SSB. 9 times out of 10 the carrier will have vanished. This is also a good opportunity to tighten the PCB fixing screws.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Cheers for that. I tightened all the screws but still the same. I had a problem with a Cobra 148 years ago and tightening the screws fixed it but not this time.

I'd love to know why this suddenly starts happening on radios that were previously working fine .

There's a good little mod that ch25 gave me using a cap and resistor over the final that worked for me . If you need the info I´ll dig it out .
