Re: Mic Inserts
Those Commtron and Maxcom-type mic's were always crap. I've had soooo many over the years with no audio!

Yeah, same here but I'd like to get the original mics working to match my radios.

Re: Mic Inserts
Is it dynamic or electret type?
Can you post a picture of those mics inside?

Re: Mic Inserts
Not sure what size they are . I have some of the larger types found in the old coffin style mics . However , I wasn't able to find any of the smaller type ones used in the later Superstar style mics .

Re: Mic Inserts
CPC have this which could be made to fit physically but is 200 ohm as opposed to the original 500 ohm.
Will that damage the radio n anyway?

Re: Mic Inserts
You might lose a tiny bit of level, not enough to notice in real usage, but it can't / won't hurt the electronics in any way. If it physically fits it will work.

Re: Mic Inserts
To close this out, the mic inserts have arrived.
The new insert fitted perfectly inside the old carrier and works fine, just as lbcomms said it would.
Deviation is ever so slightly lower but can be compensated for inside radio if needed.
So all in all, at £2.97 each, they have revived 4 of my Commtron / Maxcom mics to full working order.
Nice if you, like me, want to keep the original mics with your radios.
Thanks all.

Re: Mic Inserts
I remember years ago those Maxcom mics were quickly binned and replaced with Coffin mics, as they were much better quality and gave slightly louder audio.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

£7.50 each with a bit of discount for buying in bulk, looking at the inserts on the link. Prices have shot up!ChubbyChops wrote: ↑25 May 2022, 12:41 To close this out, the mic inserts have arrived.
