Skipmaster 150 amplifier fuse rating

Post by original45 »

Bought the old skipmaster 150 amp in nice condition to be fair and the fuse is rated at 35 amps.
No expert here but my thought I's too big.
As ever I ask those cleverer than I what fuse size should be used please. The model in the picture
Thanks again

If it's a 150 watt amp i'd expect the fuse to be round about 20/25 amps. But that's just a rough guess

Thank you, I know a little 50 watt I have is 3amp fuse however I believe 4945 would be better suited , I feel kl 60 has 5 amp and kl203 has 14 amp or 15 amp I believe I too guessed 20/25 .

That's the problem for me with old gear I'm not technical at all so rely on forum members often who may know the item or best guess .
35 just seems too high however someone may have noted a issue with smaller fuse so .Will try 20 amp first n see.I don't stress my amps anyway so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the input.much appreciated.

Bumping this one with few questions if someone can help.

These 150 models must have seen a change. The version I have will do 1.3 to 30 mhz and has a factory fitted 5&10 watt switch on rear.

But I have also now a 150 model looks same but what would input power on this model be with no 5&10 watt switch on rear .

A little confusing as to input on a.m and ssb mode ?
Has anyone knowledge of the input power safely please.

Are both versions same 1.3 to 30 mhz.

Thanks again

A fuse is rated on the load that the amp carries when running. For example, 150W operating at 12V would draw 150/12 = 12.5A at full load, or 150w at 13.8v 150/13.8 = 10.8 so theoretically a 15A fuse would be sufficient if not go up a few amps lol

been a while since i thought about that one lol

as for input power might be better to find a manual for exact answer

I thank you for the imformation.I will note that down.
I do have a manual for the 1.3 to 30 mhz model however the other version no 5/10 watt switch I don't and havnt been able to find online manual either.
Was rather hoping any with experience of the 150 skipmaster no duel input power switch would know .

Early days I'm sure we have someone on here who collects these or used them .
Thanks again samalex .
