Hi All.
Thanks for the Add. I'm a computer technician in a school by day and on standby as crew/helm/coxswain at our local lifeboat station in Newcastle, Co Down, N. Ireland. Been in Rescue Services (Coastguard and RNLI) for nearly 30 years. Dabbling with Raspberry Pi's providing feeds to MarineTraffic and FlightRadar24. Have seen some changes to Radio systems in terms of size since my early days watching my dad communicate with vessels passing by whichever lighthouse he was stationed on.

Hello dpbarry,
Good to see you on here, it is a good site with plenty of knowledgeable members and some banter at times.
I am not here so often these days, life and work get in the way.
My dad was a crewman/radio operator on the Lowestoft lifeboat many years ago and I would often enjoy a beer or two( more like a gallon or two topped up with navy rum) with him and the crew at the lifeboat club.
I still have some of his radio logs which bring back good memories
Cheers
