Cybernet Beta 3000- Help Please

Post by 3pinplug »

Hi all
Got a Cybernet Beta 3000 and when I opened it up found an extra board fitted inside, the board has an LC7120 IC on it so I was thinking mid block mod but it also contaions a 15.360mhz and 14.910mhz crystal, so normally thats for mids and Lo's. Anyone recognise this board and can firstly confirm it is a mid block board as I an unfamiliar with that side.

Secondly the Pin terminals along the back of the switches have only what I can describe as been mullered, theres cut wires and wires that should be on one pin that seem to have been moved to other pins. The radio appears to have no channel display but when very dark and you look closely it is there but its very very dim. I read to change the 2SC1383 on the channel board if no display but that didn't help.

Looking round for a circuit diagram as the channel 9 and Dimmer switches seem to have been used for the channel mod so maybe thats why I have no display, that and the cut wires lying around, been looking for a Cybernet Beta 3000 schematic but can only find one for a Beta 2000 but those don't have a dimmer function.

Anyone got a good scan of the Beta 3000 schematic at all?

I had either a Beta 3000 or a Ford 505 that'd got 3 extra blocks on it. I put a pic' on the ebay ad, but not sure if I put one on here. I'll see if I can find it.

It's different to the +120ch board that the Ford I had had in it:

Cheers for the schematic Claude👍

Thanks collector, heard of the mids being added but not more banks of channels so hopefully you can find the pic.

Thanks collector, thats certainly a bit different to mine. Finding lots of cut wires just laying around unused, following the schematic from claude at present to see what hopefully just needs connecting back together to get the channel display working. Radio transmits but thats as far as i have got with it so far as concentrating on spaghetti junction at present. The DIM and CH9 switch have been utilised for the band changes by the look of it which has resulted in no display i assume.

Should the Channel display have 13v or ground at the 2 pins on the Display. I have 13.58v on mine but a Beta 2000 schematic i found shows the two pins labelled as Com and going to ground?

There was a magazine article about that particular model being released in one of the early 80's CB mag's, but I'm yet to see one for real. It was something to do with Securicor or something like that (it has been decades since). This was also mentioned a while back on another post, maybe the rare Cybernet radios one?
