6m Bazooka antenna 0 Ohms help

Post by chr0nik »

Hi,

I'm in the process of building a 6m double bazooka antenna as I would like to have a go at 6m and I have tried to build one but all I'm seeing in the metre is low swr - between 1.0 and 1.3 but 0 Omhz.

Is this normal? I know as it's a bazooka, it needs to be shorted but it should at least show 50 Ohms.

Whilst moving through the other bands, all I could see was very high swr but with impedance between 35 and 200.

Thanks

50 Ohm is impedance for RF, DMM will show 0.

It's probably (effectively) DC grounded, quite common in antennas. It will have an appropriate resistance, or *impedance* at RF though. It's worrying to think about at first, but it really is normal for some antennas.
