Amstrad Mic's How many were there ?

Post by Buick Mackane »

Following on from a discussion in the eBay thread does anybody know how many different mic styles amstrad's were supplied with from new ?

Far as i can make out there was four,

The ones pictured below, And one which was the same as the one supplied with the Nato 2000 (I think)

Iv'e never actually seen the one pictured on the box.

The one in the last pic must have been made from recycled pot noodle cartons as it just about snapped when you keyed up and creaked like a pensioners knees,

Yeah, the Nato / Mustang type one and the second of your photos one I had, the crappy last one of your photos I never had - thankfully. Don't know about a fourth version though.

The fourth one is the one pictured on the box, Although maybe it never went into production and was used for advertising only.

Only ever seen number 2 and 3 as genuine factory supplied mics.
People can make badges to stick on any mic but don't mean they are factory.

I've never ever seen one like the above on an Amstrad and I've had quite a few over the decades, I'm always on the lookout for nice Amstrads and mic's in general, so if they ever did do them, then they're much rarer than Unicorn poo.

Beginning to think the Nato style mic was only used for promotional pics, Bit misleading though as it's pictured on the box.

I've got the 3 Amstrad mic's above, including a Nato style one (currently without a cable).

My mistake dave i meant the one on the box must have been used for promotional pics only ,

I bought the rounded " clock face" mic' a liitle while back to go on my Mk3 Cobra 148 GTL-DX as that's the type that came with it. They're crap mic's though and can dead-key if you don't press the creaky PTT bar hard enough!
