Antenna identification please.

Post by original45 »

Anyone know what this antenna is please. Manufacturer or any info appreciated.
Measures 42 and 43" each section.top section wound closer than bottom.
2 sections screw together measuring just over 8' 3 or 4".

Was told it's resonant on 26 to 27 mhz.untested as yet by myself.
Looks very well made brass fittings thick quality heat shrink covering.

It looks like an 8ft Firestick they are usually top loaded like that.
Dont think they are made anymore. I know nights have some 7ft Firestiks in stock.
I think they were tuned by using a jubilee clip slid up and down near the top.
However it may have already been tuned does the tip look as if its been taped up.
The idea was to pull the top bit of the coil and trim it to length. than a rubber top cap slid over the top.
I suggest an antenna analyser to check it when fitted to a good ground or vehicle.
Hope that helps.

Were the 8 ft firesticks in 2 pieces then? Never seen one in fair. The top has what looks like a factory fitted sealed top same material as it's wrapped in .
Doesn't appear like it can come off either to tune.

The quality looks superb attention to detail in wrapping it too.
Image to follow of top ,does that look like some kind of finger grip to remove for tuning maybe or just finished like that .

I've only ever seen up to 7ft long Firestiks, not an 8ft. myself. I've never seen one of those before, so it'd be interesting to see if it works well. It'd be handy as a portable hill-top aerial if you're on a bike etc.

It would dave, not tested it but seller tested on analyser said 26 27 mhz resonant.

That top with what looks like a finger grip to pull off interests me but don't wish to remove if it's not ment too.
I still imagine is pree swr job maybe.
Be better if was adjustable sure could be useful in 2 pieces static mobile.
