I have not had any reports of a hum on transmit. Is this a problem on the Yaesu Ft-450D ? Do you mean the cooling fan operating when the unit is transmitting?

I thought this was fixed on the 450d,I had the same problem with a 450at if the screen was bright it would hum on tx but with the screen brightness off it was fine.
I grounded the front panel to the chassis with a piece of wire like in the link which ch25 has posted and no more hum. I did contact Yaesu uk about the common fault and they said they knew nothing about it.

Thank you for the link regarding the hum on the 450. I wonder as said if this was resolved for the 450D? I have had no reports of a hum, and have also listed to my own transmissions through another radio, and there is no hum present. I will bare this information in mind though.
