If you get stuck post in the repair forum. If you have a working transformer shouldn't be hard to get it up & running, Sureshot is the resident PSU Man for mods and repairs etc

Re: Power supply identification needed
I haven't had chance to have a proper look at it yet. I will "Borrow" some caps from work tomorrow and have a go at it over the weekend. There doesn't look to be much which can go wrong...

Re: Power supply identification needed
Provided theres voltage from the transformer should be a pretty easy fix, Power transformers are pretty robust

Re: Power supply identification needed
Well at least half of the transformer must be working otherwise it wouldn't be humming.
I have some caps ready to fit, and some spare rectifier diodes, I just hope that it isn't the main transistor as it has an odd part number. It certainly isn't the usual 2N3055

99% of these I've fixed are just needing new caps.

Re: Power supply identification needed
Thats good news, I will have a crack over the weekend. My 3-5 struggles to power my PC-999 Grant but this supply should be much better in that regard.

Best CB power packs were ''mr whoosh power houses'' Blue cases. And a picture of mr whoosh himself scribbled on the front panel..You just don't see quality like that anymore

Re: Power supply identification needed
When I said there was no output I appear to have a dodgy meter lead. It is actually putting out 24v
The output from the transformer inside is 36v (RMS)
I have some new caps which I will put in tomorrow.

Re: Power supply identification needed
That was what i was thinking after doing a bit of internet "resurch". I am wondering of a cap has gone bad and caused the regulator to fail.
The regulator main parts seem to be a pair of transistors. One Large TO-3 type which has the part number BDW21 and is located on the heatsink, and another smaller TO-220 packaged device on the PCB which I am unable to read the numbers on until I remove it.
