433.000mhz, I'm picking up a load of american stations........

Yes I know that's a UK repeater output, but these certainly aren't coming in from a UK repeater.

can't say i noticed any lift on 70cm but i went to bed at 10pm, though their was a lift going on on hf. lots on 11m and 20m.

They are originating in the US, traveling through the internet and being broadcast by a local repeater..
Search for "Echolink" that should explain it.

I'm familiar with Echolink, but why are there tons of americans wanting to speak on a British repeater?

No idea, but they are not coming in directly on UHF...

It could be a US gateway. The fun thing to do would be to locate it. It's on 70cm, so it shouldn't be too hard to get a rough idea of where it is.
