Multistandard radios with AM in UK setting
As per the title really, do any of the multistandard (AM/FM) radios which you can currently buy allow AM to be selected in mid band whilst set to the UK country setting?
All of the ones I have used have required EU or Spain settings to be used which is a lot of fannying about.
The Grant 2 used to allow it, but that's a more expensive multimode.

Re: Multistandard radios with AM in UK setting
I have 2 radios that will do that.
President Bill and President Taylor 4.
The President Richard also works that way when expanded with UK channels turned on.

Re: Multistandard radios with AM in UK setting
Thanks chubbychops. I wonder if there are others? In most cases it would just need a firmware update on the radio I would have thought, and AM/SSB has been legal for over 7 years now so you would think that more would be available by now...

Yes, I'm sure there are others, but the ones I mentioned I have personal experience of.
I have the Bill in my camper and the ability to change to CEPT and AM/FM is great when travelling through Europe.

Re: Multistandard radios with AM in UK setting
Looking at a few of the later President radios it seems that most of those can do it. Unfortunately instruction manuals for other makes are not as easy to find so it isn't possible to find out about those.

Re: Multistandard radios with AM in UK setting
I might be missing the point! My CRT 6900N can be programmed from 26Mhz to 30Mhz in chunks of 60 channels on six bands (360 channels). All with AM/FM/SSB/CW.
Not a multi standard CB as such, but does the same thing with a bit of setting up.
For example my bands are...
Band A... Polish
Band B... US Low / German High
Band C... EU / German Mid / US Mid
Band D... US High
Band E... UK
Band F... 10m
Also I have the spare 20 channels on bands A to E tuned to various portions of the 10m band.

Yes a lot of the export radios can be programmed (I had an Alinco DR-135UK for a while), but I was thinking more of the basic AM/FM legal multistandard radios.

I was hoping the K-Po Panther would (being a President clone), but it doesn't. You have to boot it into EU mode, which loses all the settings.
