Just bought a Superstar 360 (AM/SSB only) as they're quite hard to come by and it'll look nice amongst my other similar-looking radios.
It's apparently not working, so I'll have to see what I can suss out. It'll probably end up in a box to go to Nick at some point.

I like them . The base radio is similar to the 148 GTL . I've had a couple , but I've only got one now . Someone did quite a decent binary adder mod on it , which I've left in . Saying that I will rip it out and fit one of Sue's MB8719 nano/osc mods when she has a chance to finish it .

Bought this guy mainly for nostalgic reasons . One of the breakers that lived near to me had one on his mk1 148 and it always sounded great , so I thought I'd buy this one and see how it sounded .

Is that where they put a sexually-confused snake inside the cases??? ;)

The first radio that I ever "tarted up" was one of these. I did the surround in silver (rubbing the badly scratched chrome plating down to the copper primer with wet & dry paper was a bugger), the front panel in graphite grey with white lettering. I called it a Condor Mk2 as Condor was my handle back then. It had the high band crystal missing from memory (plug-in?). It looked bloody good though and the buyer thought it was a legitimate rig until I explained about my new-found hobby!

I'll keep it original, but I just hope it's easily repairable. I'll keep you posted.

I bought a Royce 1-641 SSB/AM 40 channel base yesterday in working and like new cosmetic condition. Due to the age, I will replace all electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. Small value capacitors on the receiver/transmit boards are usually ok for 50 years. Especially so if ELNA brand. I had a 1960s audio amplifier that all were still good.

Bought a rare Eurocomm 40 radio off ebay. The radio was literally covered in a light brown-coloured dust which showed up really badly on the flash-enhanced photo, but that meant that the cheeky offer I made was quickly accepted.

Upon testing, one bit of a digit was missing and the meter was pushed in, but 10 seconds after opening it up, the meter was clipped back in and a liberal squirt of contact cleaner got the bit of digit back!

It's now replaced the one that I already had that's not in quite as good condition and that'll be on ebay later.

I've bought a job-lot of aerials off ebay for £10 plus £14 postage as an offer, but there is a Valor half-breed, a triple-coiled Road Hog-type thing, a dial-match, a Thoroughbred Z27, 3ft Springer and a spare whip, 2x DV base bits, dial-a-match and halr-breed coils, an original Amstrad aerial magmount (what I really wanted it all for) plus the guy's found some more stuff out that he's kindly throwing in too.

I also bought a very tidy Cobra-branded bootlip-mounted aerial base for £12.50 plus postage. Just need to sort out what length whip it 'll need. Should have a whip for it from the job-lot above ;)

Edit - the seller above's sending me a length of co-ax and a PL plug just in case I should want to replace the original stuff on the Cobra aerial. Can't get better than that!

Jeez..£99 posted with 5 days still to go??? They are nice radios, but for that price...

I've already got a nice boxed one thanks. Probably cost me £15 back in the day when radio prices were "normal" ;)

Well I've bought another rig from the states
And these slightly unusual handhelds with rubber ducks instead of telescopic antennas both came with batteries and are working fine
