Hello Everyone,
Can anyone tell me what the call settings are for 446 ? Are there two calling freqs for digital and none digital ? Can the digital radios swap between digital and analogue ?
Thanks all

The FM calling channel is *generally accepted* as channel 8. Obviously, though, you can call wherever you like.
With FM/Digital combined, it depends on your equipment manufacturer. I'm not sure of the digital calling settings, I would expect it to be broadly in line with the ham settings, IE talkgroup 9 for calling/open channel etc. I've never used digital 446 though, so I could be wrong.

As the above poster said channel 8 but you can call on any channel, there would be more users between analog channels 1 & 8. No CTCSS

Channel 8 around here but you can call on any channel and will probably get a reply especially on the weekend and now the weathers picking up.
Heard a guy in Somerset calling on channel 13 earlier and he soon got a reply.
There are more DX users between channels 8 to 16 of the analogue channels around here, mainly because these channels are not as busy with other users as 1 to 7 at present.
As for digital there is not much activity near me, SSB and AM I have heard and used mind you but FM is the main mode in my experience.

AM/SSB on 446 now that would be something... I do have some DMR radios but they don't appear to support 6.25KHz steps and wont take the frequencies when tried. Maybe some new firmware might do something. It be nice to use some digital modes. I've not heard anybody yet on 9 to 16 analog channels only the first 8 analog channels.Mikel wrote: ↑26 Apr 2021, 13:43 Channel 8 around here but you can call on any channel and will probably get a reply especially on the weekend and now the weathers picking up.

Re: CQ CALLING SETTINGS FOR 446 ????
we used to use 446 around here, but too many kids and you know what it's like, where there's kids there's undesirable CBers and amateurs with bags or sweets and puppies..
so we opted for 9 to 16, but even those are used by schools (H&S would have a field day) and other businesses totally unaware what a CTCSS or DCS is.
we tried AM and SSB but what's the point, we even use DMR but again, bit pointless, as most people only have junky chinese radios with FM so wouldn't be able to join in..

446.19375 CC1 TG1 S1
But I have also read about TG99 (instead of using TG1) on DMR PMR446.
CC1 TG9112 Ive seen mentioned as a distress talkgroup on CH9 (446.10625), also EmCOMMS on same group on all DMR PMR446 Channels.
Ive never heard TG99 or TG9112 used in my area, but to be fair ive never heard anybody in my area use DMR PMR446 in general.

Re: CQ CALLING SETTINGS FOR 446 ????
I think I will stay away from DMR on 446 way to messy with all the talk groups. That why the Ham DMR mostly sits dead because you have all these talk groups and not enough people with more talk groups being created. At least with analog its simple with your set channels.
Everybody would be scattered about not being able to hear each other because they are on different talk groups trying to find a contact. I suppose DMR446 would be ok if it was kept simple.
16 channels analog on PMR446 is fine for me.

I do to, but in the main all I hear is the Amazon warehouse, several miles up the road, who use 8 as their main conflab channel.
