Digital trunking scanner advice

I am seeing alot 'digital and trunking' comments, so I have looked on ebay at digital trunking scanner will they work?
But the price!!

It seems analogue is obsolete almost now

Digital scanners do work but you need to do lots of research and experimentation to get the best out of them, don't expect it to be plug n play..
