Re: CH 6 446.08675 ALLWAYS BUSY ?????
Just a thought, but It could be a legacy left over from when the band was used exclusively for business users?
Before the band was allocated to license free PMR446, the portion of the spectrum 446.000 Mhz to 446.4000 Mhz was exclusively used for licensed, paying business users.
In fact 446Mhz was very congested with business users in some areas of the country. When the first 8 channels of PMR446 were introduced into the UK in April 1999 (446.00625 Mhz to 446.09375 Mhz) there were still a number of business users left on the band.
No new licenses for business are being issued since that date and most users have been migrated to other frequencies.
I still have a business user left on channel 12 (446.14375 Mhz) around here and of course the channels 9 to 16 of PMR446 (446.10625 Mhz to 446.19375 Mhz) were not introduced until 2016 so it is even more likely that there will still be business users continuing with an old allocation here.
The band used to be allocated to racecourses amongst others and in fact channel 6 (446.06875 Mhz) used to be commonly known as Racecourse ch 4 - do you have a racecourse bear you?
What about any stately homes or gardens as they could still be using an old National Trust allocation as well?
Obviously the above could be completely and utterly wide of the mark and if you could supply more information or even a recording of the transmission then we may be able to narrow it down for you

Only thing I know that's in Wisbech is copart and I know some of their sites use radios to communicate with some of the loading shovel drivers... Probably not that but just a thought...

I don't think the op has been specific enough for anyone to answer...

It's probably the same reason people sit there and press the call button all day. Really, From dawn to dusk, someone near me presses the call button continuously.

most of the cheap childrens radios switch on and default to channel 8.
could be a radio stuck in TX, busy from users or even a cheap 446 type alarm system or communication device.

It's probably just interference from a nearby TV, phone charger, or some other tech. Hard drives tend to interfere with my Binatone 950s on channel 6.

Re: CH 6 446.08675 ALLWAYS BUSY ?????
just noted 086.75 isn't even a 446 channel.
CH6 446.06875MHz
CH7 446.08125MHz
CH8 446.09375MHz
so in all honesty, not sure what you're listening to..
could be a genuine 446 PMR user, some still use the official channels
i do get some data around 446.118 locally which isn't 446 CB stuff.

He obviously just got his "6" and " 8" the wrong way around, when he typed the frequency. Anyway Warlock, turn any nearby devices that contain hard drives off, then see if it's still happening. Let us know how you get on..

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR REPLYES, YES it should have been 446.06875 and not 446.08675 I have turned everything off and it still comes in busy , so guess i will just remove 446.06875 from my radio a CRT SPACE which i find to be a very good radio

Re: CH 6 446.08675 ALLWAYS BUSY ?????
here's one for you..
446.006 (channel 1) but actually 446.005 DCS 503
and 446.068 (channel 6) actually 446.007 DCS 466
but 466 and 503 comes after it so may be something in between..
i am getting what sounds like someone keying up with white noise, hash sound, un-keys with a blurp type beep.
a non Baofeng type beep more a blurp than a bleep.
on SSB it sounds a bit like data but the blurps not sure..
now on my big radio and antenna ch1 is strong than ch6
yet small radio ch6 is as strong as ch1.
on my IFR it's stronger on ch1 barely heard on ch6 with a 6 inch whip..
confused..!!!

Re: CH 6 446.08675 ALLWAYS BUSY ?????
Evening,
Could it be coming from one of the hospitals ? I remember driving past few years back and got strong data type signals possibly paging ? In the 446mhz area...sorry to be vague !
Still get same now around 446.2***mhz in North Herts , getting stronger towards Cambridge?
Thanks
K
