EVENT: 24hr JS8 QSO Party - Sat 14th November 2020 from 7pm

Post by MrWeetabix »

24hr JS8 QSO Party

Saturday, 14 November 2020, 7:00pm to Sunday, 15 November 2020, 7:00pm (GMT+00:00) UTC

Across All Amateur bands, HF, VHF, & UHF

Organizer: [email protected]

The JS8 QSO Party is a chance to get on the air with JS8 and make some contacts every month. Whether you like a quick exchange or a long rag-chew, this event is for you. We have a lot of great, patient operators in the group, so the environment should be very welcoming!

The party is an all-day event held monthly on the Second Saturday of the month (unless the schedule is modified for a particular event). Each month will have a theme or goal. Get on the air and chat with JS8!

Participation: Global

Remember, by default JS8 QSO Party events are not contests, so all amateur bands are open for use. Now might be the time to break out your 30m delta loop or 17m hamstick or 12m bed springs! Sticking to the theme is nice, but remember that with JS8 we have the freedom of free-text. So, feel free to QSY toward a clear frequency and talk about anything you want.
I hope to see some of y'all on the air. Let me know if I can help in the meantime!

Cheers!

Best, Jordan / KN4CRD

Whilst I dont object to anyone celebrating his death, I dont think appropriating the JS8 event would be appropriate! haha.

Just another reminder for this, starts at 7pm tonight. I'll post some info about JS8 if anybody fancies giving it a go, or even just doing some decoding. I am sure SWL reports will be welcome.

"JS8Call is software using the JS8 Digital Mode providing weak signal keyboard to keyboard messaging to Amateur Radio Operators.
JS8Call is an experiment to test the feasibility of a digital mode with the robustness of FT8, combined with a messaging and network protocol layer for weak signal communication on HF, using a keyboard messaging style interface.

It is not designed for any specific purpose other than connecting amateur radio operators who are operating under weak signal conditions. JS8Call is heavily inspired by WSJT-X, Fldigi, and FSQCall and would not exist without the hard work and dedication of the many developers in the amateur radio community."

There seemed to be plenty of activity on 40m for this last night, sadly I has an issue interfacing the HF radio with JS8Call for some reason so all I could do was RX.

Today I have my beacon running on 11m (27.246) so if anyone within 50m of Newcastle wants to try this then hopefully you'll hear my station.

Best 73 de Craig
