Sorry for what is probably a silly question but whilst parked up in bodmin today I caught a transmission on 85.062500 fm with very clear voices and was just wondering what bandplan this is ie 20m or whatever

3.5m

velocity = frequency x wavelength

300000000 = 85000000 * wavelength

wavelength = 300000000 / 85000000 = 3.5 m

85.0625MHz is part of what is known as "VHF Low Band" 66 - 88MHz, the nearest ham band is 70Mhz - 4M.
The frequency is licenced by Stephen Baptiste in Bodmin, probably a cab company or similar..

VHF low band is almost deserted now, not like Ye Olde Days. I wonder what it was that you heard?

I've picked up a Sky News audio feed around that frequency in the past.
