I have what I call "The bible" on all this old technology.
To be precise: Handbook Of Wireless Telegraphy 1938 - Admiralty - Vol.I and Vol.II
One has to remember that Naval radio communications preceded Army/Land radio communications. The army used to use "dispatch runners" and "land wire lines" which clearly ships can't do.
