GB7NS

Does anybody know what talk groups GB7NS carries?

I have programmed in lots of talk group channels into my radio over 100 so far and I set the radio to scan, all's I ever get are TG235, TG9, TG83, TG81 and that's about it. I have never heard a voice that's from outside of the UK unless its from northern Ireland.

At first I thought maybe I just needed to be patient and wait for those talk groups to become active, after weeks of monitoring its just been UK chatter.

I thought to myself that's its a bit odd that I'm not getting anything other than UK & Northern Ireland chatter so I put on my Baofeng UV5r to check for digital traffic on the frequency only to find that there is often activity on the GB7NS repeater but I don't hear anything on my DMR radio unless its UK chatter.

I don't have my DMR I.D yet I don't plan on getting one until I've learned more about DMR before I go locking up repeaters not knowing what I'm doing so for now I'm just listening to DMR.

I did some googling online and read something about I need to find out what talk groups GB7NS carries, so I searched a bit more but I could not find out.

I'd really like to be able to listen to other countries like America, Canada etc, I have those talk groups programmed into the radio but never hear anything on those channels.

I was listening to a conversation last night on DMR which I found the topic interesting that they were talking about and then they mentioned contacting New Zealand and I'm pretty sure I have the talk group programed in for NZ but whether its the correct one I don't know but anyway I could not hear anything on that talk group but the repeater was busy.

Any advice?

Cheers for the links, I have all those talk groups already programmed, I've tweaked a few things so hopefully something has changed. There's some activity as I type but I didn't catch what talk group they went too.

The radio is in scan so I'll guess I'll have to wait and see.

PHOENIX DMR Live Monitor is a useful tool.

I've just added TG801, TG4480, TG4406.

Many talkgroups are on demand/user activated. They're only transmitted on the repeater if someone keys up on the talkgroup to activate it. This reduces unnecessary traffic.

I already know that :) but thanks for the info on it.

I'm learning quite a bit as I go along, I would have thought GB7NS would have been a lot more active tonight.

I've just been monitoring more this morning and wrote down more talk groups to add to my radio. I've also discovered I can receive the GB7LO repeater in Bromley so I'll have an extra repeater.

I can pick up GB3AU on analog so I tried GB7AU but I can't receive that one only the analog one and the same with GB3GF.

Go to this page:
http://www.dmr-uk.net/index.php/uk-live-monitor/
Scroll down and hit "Previous 25" till you find GB7NS Repeater entry.
Hit "GB7NS", this will give a log of traffic originated at GB7NS.
Hit "Caterham", this will give Talkgroup usage on both Slots..

Cheers I just programmed in more talk groups to the radio so I should receive a bit more now. Just after programming my radio TG4440 pops up on the site so that will be another for next time to program into my radio.

I added all the extra talk groups to the PD785 radio so that's picking up all my talk groups now, I'm also confident and ready to apply for my DMR I.D My first contact will be America :D

I tried adding the same talk groups to my PD705 LT but it wouldn't let me add anymore than 16 talk groups into the scan list so I did a firmware update on that as its running older firmware than the PD785 and after I was able to add all my talk groups to the scan list except it does not pick up nothing other than the one talk group that the channel its on {bnghd} I've also got very low audio after the update but I'll get it all sorted I think what I need to do is bring the PD705 LT's firmware up to date to match my PD785's firmware than they'll have the same features in the programming.

I keep hearing Steve on 235 he sounds like his saying charlie c, charlie c, He is not pronouncing his call sign correctly and nobody ever gets back to him.

4480 & 4406 are reflectors - they don't work like talk groups.
TG1, TG2, TG9, TG13, TG235 & TG801 are static - the rest are user activated.
TG840 (East England) on Thursdays at 20:00 has a net.
TG2351 (CQ UK) is quiet popular

Thanks. I'll listen out for the net on TG840 Thursday. I've not heard much on TG2351

GB7NS has been off due to power issues at the site - it should be back on now.
