I had one that was modified to electret, but the currebt that was drawn from the Up or down button connection meant it sometimes changed channel just because it felt like it. If you have a schematic for a reliable modification it would be really useful.

Re: Lincoln mic problems
Thread revival ! After poking about inside my Lincoln after discovering it has no tx audio i decided to put a scope on the mic - bang mic is at fault...
How on earth does the mic come appart ? Is there a hidden screw or clip somewhere other than the 3 on the back I cant see? I'm resisting the intention to prize the bas#### open with the big screwdriver but not sure how long I'll hold out!

Re: Lincoln mic problems
No, the original Mic is no magic to crack it open. Maybe someone has fixed it with super glue? The original mic capsules seems to die all one by one. Had a lot of dead capsules in the last years.

Re: Lincoln mic problems
If the screw "posts" have been stripped or been snapped due to overtightening, then glue has been used in the past to keep the two halves together. You can try a Stanley knife and repeatedly run the blade along the crack. This might cut through a thin layer of glue.
However, if they've gone overboard with the UHU or superglue, then you may need to use a thin, flat blade to try and gently prise it apart.
If they've used loads of plastic cement (as used on Airfix planes), you're probably going to have to cause a bit of damage I'm afraid.

Convert to electret. Win-win situation.

Re: Lincoln mic problems
An electret is cheaper and sounds better than the dynamic ones.

Re: Lincoln mic problems
You can still use standard dynamic mics on the radio after the conversion. The electret mic can only be used on the radio , unless the other radios have been modified accordingly.
