Listening on the dongle...........
Analogue Trunked control channel outbursts at varying power levels on 205.8375mhz.
Any ideas on users around these freqs?
Think there used to be buses on it many moons ago??

Its Network Rail National Radio Network Control Channel Zone 092 on Buchanan House.
Will disappear shortly when GSM-R is fully rolled out.
Nothing to do with First Bus. Glasgow bus net control channels all 178.xxx.

thanks to replys.i knew there was buses around that area of mhz.
assume the 178mhz is all Analogue trunked?
Think i had a simplex frequency for gibson buses inchinnan around 167-169mhz for any interested although it was simplex.

The bus net is a trunked system in the lower band 3 177/178.xxx. All listed in the wtr.
Have never found McGills in the west of Glasgow. Anybody any ideas?

sorry the freq i had for gibsons is actually mcgills.it was around 167.9mhz or 168.100 if i remember right.it was simplex so a good outdoor antenna was needed to listen to.
i remember the old com paisley repeater on 163.075mhz which had gibsons and first stop travel on it with their gp300 handies.Also think there was a busy bus repeater freq in clydebank while back prob for a smaller private company around 165mhz.
*update.
the mcgills simplex i heard was 165.9375 MHz although there was two licences on wtr;
TX: 165.9375 MHz RX: 170.7375 MHz (maybe i was hearing repeater input?)
TX: 169.675 MHz RX: 169.675 MHz
.............and the clydebank buses just found on old list was 165.5500mhz

Band 3 bus net still analogue and needles to say very busy.

Hi everyone.....found this recently... during 2014/15 during the process of renewing Radio Electronic Token Block (RETB) signalling on the West Highland Lines. A 'new generation RETB' has seen an upgrade of the existing system with new equipment installed at various locations. The upgrade is necessary due to a change in radio frequencies in 2016.....would be interested to know if anyone has info on whether this will also be going over to the dark side, or will it be remaining analogue??

The company involved in the renewal of the RETB system on the west highland line is called telent....

The RETB system was replaced on the Central Wales line with a digital system based on GSM-R. There were various issues so it was decided to stick with RETB on the West Highlands and Far North lines.
The system has to be running by Dec 2015 when the current 204-206mhz freqs are handed back.
The new freqs were listed in the WTR about two years ago. 20 freqs in the 180-183 range.
I read that testing will start in the early summer.
Look forward to reports......

The itu published the NRN band 3 mast sites some years ago. Somebody even plotted them onto Google Earth.
Stirling = 205.100
Denny = 205.900
Burntisland = 205.350 & 205.400
Will all be gone very soon when the gsm-r revolution takes over.
