I live in Chester and I am able to receive most frequencies which are transmitted from the Kelsall site according to radioreference.co.uk. Recently, i've discovered a new frequency which i have not heard before (135.715), it is quite active and I hear aircraft handed off to Leeds and Newcastle as well as Manchester and Liverpool. I'm wondering if sector 29 (118.775) and Scottish East (133.800) are no longer transmitted from Kelsall as I have never heard them active.
Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Will

Re: Kelsall transmitter site frequencies
Good morning Will,
Deafened by the silence! In the absence of any other replies, here is my take on things. All this is in the public domain...
According to various sources 135.715 is listed as the Scottish "North" sector; which covers FL165-195 to the north of Manchester, west of Leeds Bradford and very roughly centred on Pole Hill.
Sweeping statement time: In the past this frequency seems to be rarely used however seems active these days.
If you are hearing traffic coming out of LBA it seems that this has possibly replaced 133.8, at least on a temporary basis.
As for the location of these transmitters? I am down in the southwest, but can hear these stations via Globaltuners. In the past 133.8 MHz has not been audible, suggesting that it didn't come from Kelsall - however 135.715 MHz is audible, which suggests that this does indeed come from Kelsall. It would seem that despite various listings that currently 118.780 MHz doesn't emanate from Kelsall.
134.430 MHz also seems audible now.
However don't believe everything you read as various sources list 126.080 MHz as coming from Ventor - I'm pretty sure that it doesn't.
All part of life's rich tapestry

Hi Rob,
Thank you so much for the reply. I've been listening to airband for the past 2 years, and as far as i can remember, i've always been able to hear 134.430.
Thanks again for the info!

Re: Kelsall transmitter site frequencies
Hello Will,
A bit of a follow up. Here's my take on things, but open to correction...
What I think is coming from Kelsall is
128.055
132.860
133.705
134.430
135.575
135.715
What is listed in various places as Kelsall, but not heard from there are:-
118.780
133.800
It seems that 133.705 and 135.575 are usually band-boxed.
Similarly it seems that 133.8 and 135.715 are band-boxed.
Good hunting!
Rob

Re: Kelsall transmitter site frequencies
Hey Rob,
You've come to the exact conclusion as to me haha!
Using some online SDR receivers,
I have concluded that 133.050 is bandboxed with 128.050
134.430 is also bandboxed with 133.800 and 135.715
132.860, 133.700, 135.575, 126.780, and 128.130 are bandboxed too.
Some are only bandboxed during the night/early morning.
That's all I could figure out.
Thanks for your help!
Will

Re: Kelsall transmitter site frequencies
Great minds think alike Will!
During the day I think that 133.705 and 135.575 are paired up, whilst 132.860, the higher level one, is generally all one its own!
Noted on the IOM Sector on 133.050 - seems to blow hot and cold, sometimes traffic is handed off to it and often not. Guess it depends on traffic levels.
Now we have to find what 118.780 is paired with, if anything
Adios
