Tandy TRC-1014 - Battery / Aerial Eliminator ?

Just acquired a TRC-1014 40ch, with various extras. There is a 12v battery eliminator included but only the type which is a standard battery box with 12v lead off.
Ideally I'd like one of the small aerial/battery eliminators which clips on in place of the battery pack to form a chunky hand mic with leads off for power and a remote aerial. The 1014/1015 are supposed to be rebadged Maycom AH-27, which are compatible with the Midland/Alan 42 (?) but I'm getting conflicting opinions on whether the Midland eliminator will work with the Tandy unit ....... Has anybody tried this combo and able to give a definite answer please ?

You need to check the bottom of your radio to make sure that there is actually a antenna pin on it otherwise the midland one will just work as a power lead.

After 'a lot' of googling I found pictures of both sets and can see what you're saying - looks like the Tandy sets, by design, didn't have the aerial connection on the lower board - seems a strange cut back unless Tandy just wanted to sell their own battery-only packs, to the inconvenience of their customers?

I'm going to be opening up the radio to do the channel mod - thought 80ch initially, is it worth going with the 120/200 mod ?
- so when I'm in there if it's as simple as taking some thin coax from the aerial connector to the battery ground and an improvised aerial point on the lower board, I'll probably give that a try

To be honest I wouldn't bother with the extra channels as you would lose the UK 40 unless you put a switch on the mod, but that is up to you all of the realistic trc1015's have the antenna part fitted were as the trc1014 some do and some don't
