New Member West Coast VHF Marine

I am hoping this is were I can find my answers ! I have searched high and low on the net to this question and hope someone can help me find the answer.

I would like to purchase a fix mount and hand held VHF Marine Radio that would allow me to program additional marine frequencies other than the ones that come standard with the units.

I have heard that these are called "private channels" or "expanded channels" and I am not to sure what the actual right reference is .

When displayed on the units they show up as Letters....F channels F-1 155.625 F-2 155.775 ect.....There is C as well and others that I am not aware of....

These channels are used by some fishing lodges or a group of local fisherman that want to stay off the main channels.

If anyone has any information or advice it would be greatly appreciated as I have just came up blank searching for hours on the net.

If anyone know any companies that sell Marine VHF that would be able to preprogram I am open to that as well
