lookinig for a legal set of 446 radios with good battery life.

Post by KILLERPARSNIP »

Hello all,

I'm looking for a compact pair of PMR 446 handheld that are UK legal and have built in batteries with good battery life. There seems to be so many on eBay that aren't on the frequencies that they are supposed to be or are more than the legal power.

Thanks all.

The only factory-legal ones I've used are the weird Motorola bright yellow ones, the ones with the torch on the bottom. They struck me as being fairly well made, although I don't think they're 16ch. Probably not as indestructable as normal uhf handies in daily long-term use, but you did specify legal ones. I can't remember what the model number is but they're bright yellow. In my opinion whilst M don't make the best gear anymore, it's still better than a lot of the supercheap manufacturers.

That aside, Lidl often have proper 446 handies in, which are (IIRC) 16ch. I'd definitely give them a go if I had to buy any, they probably have a decent warranty at least.
