Motorola GP338 software issue

Post by paulears »

I’ve been given a pair of Motorola GP338 radios. Brand new, but sitting on the shelf for a very long time. They seem nice radios and I even have the programming cable. The snag is the CPS seems to require either XP or maybe vista? Windows 10 refuses to run the software my friend gave me. I’ve tried it on an old vista laptop, but it doesn’t have the drivers and so far my attempt to program the radios has failed! Can anyone help? It seems a shame to not do something with them.

If you're using a Prolific usb adapter you'll need to force the older drivers. Search for Prolific usb driver bricked for more info about that. Aside from that, try an XP virtual machine.

that's a good idea - I'd forgotten we used to have to do that! Trouble is - my computer has dozens of CPS apps for the radios I sell and I don't want to wreck those! I'mm give it a try.
