Hi everyone,
I have seen several posts from radio operators who have FT290's with damaged displays.
It is frustrating as its impossible to get replacement parts and the radios are generally very good despite their age.
So I embarked on a repair project to fix the display with commonly available, cheap parts.
I have written up the project here https://g6rzr.com/?page_id=1281
Feedback welcome.

Had a look at your work, great stuff.
I had a 290R and 790R many years back and both were perfect little radios.

Re: FT290R Mk 1 Display repair
It is clean maybe its because the code is in a PDF document?
who knows?
It doesnt copy out well from the PDF I had to edit it all to get back to the neat layout.
Anyway I managed to save it out as an .ino file so it will load into the arduino compiler.
So should I require to replace the LCD in my 290r in the future I will be able to do so.
Thanks for the excellent write up and for sharing your effort
