One of my other hobbies is messing with / repairing vintage radios and a signal tracer is a very useful piece of equipment for fault finding, I found a circuit on youtube than consists of using a 741 op-amp as a high impedance buffer driving into an LM-386 Audio amp, the gain is enormous, So much so that on the high gain setting with volume wide open it bursts into oscillation, I built this over a year ago and it works great, Waiting on an enclosure to get it all boxed up (Pics to follow) Cheap to build as it uses I.C's that are ten a penny,
Any Questions just ask,
