Post by astradyne »

Easy to fit DIY mod board for Cybernet SSB radio's. Adds -40 channels beneath your lowest band plus UK40. Fair price too.

Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Hmmm...interesting.

I've got a Major M588 coming as I just want the Ham Int. bracket that it's got on it and maybe fitting one of these would make the radio easier to sell on.

I think even I might be able to do that...???? or not...I'll have a look inside the Major when it comes to see how small the soldered bits look!

Edit- watching the video it looks easy. It's then reading about wiring stuff to switches and vco thingimajigs where I get worried, so perhaps I'll give it a miss

Looks alright , but for a few extra quid you could buy this , and you'll get more bands/extras .

Just be mindful of postal charges from Gerhard. Not his fault, but costs to ship stuff from him to GB have increased quite a bit and are subject to the "risk" of 20% vat.
I purchased a couple of modules from him last month and while I avoided vat, shipping was over £20.

Yeah. That's the main issue I have too. I spoke to him about it as well . He really should look for alternative shippers. Can't remember what I paid last time I bought something. Think it was around €16.

I bought one and fitted it this morning to my Concorde II
Took all of 15 mins, no VCO change required on mine.
Kept it as standard as possible by removing the CW key socket from the back panel and using a new switch in it's place.
Can be reverted to standard easily if ever required.

If my Major's channels weren't so messed up, I'd consider getting one myself and I could possibly even fit it...with some guidance ;)

I have same board but I don’t reuse the PLLO2A as not all Cybernet use a PLLO2AG, A lot use the non G, the boards I use will do low to uk from just one crystal (20.105/10.0525) and +10 and -5

Given how simple these are I'm surprised that there is not a DIY version doing the rounds with a cheap PCB.

Back in the days of eproms I used to make my own boards for this, still have the masters somewhere.
