Manor Kestrel

Post by dt630 »

Morning all.
I have picked up 3 Manor Kestrels.
They have no power leads.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to which type of lead I need.
I want to try & keep them stock.
Thanks.

They look to be the same as the Nato 2000 etc: <LINK>

Edd never said that, but I don't know how to get him notified about a post.

Thanks Tim.
I will test them at the weekend to see if they are serviceable.

If they're 2-pin, have they got rounded ends or square/90 degree ends? The squared power leads won't go into the rounded-type sockets so ensure you buy the right ones.

The radio is the same as the Communicators Ni-440DX and Planet 2000... tthhrrruuuuppp! ;) I've got one of them but won't be going up in the loft for a while to check.

Edit:
Looking at the Ni-440dx online, they are the squared ones like down below:

If you buy the rounded ones (the polarity should hopefully be the same), prices are cheaper (see 1st picture below for 3 of them) , but if you want the squared ones, they're a bit more. The squared ones will be a snug fit and won't fall out as easily if the cable gets pulled as the rounded type ;)

The people making these available have to buy the individual
Parts and assemble them bag them pay eBay fees and post free in not free packaging.

Half the problem these days is people don’t think about
The whole picture only what they imagine is a price they’d pay

I understand the costs involved in making them, And can see the expense being worth it for a high end radio but not for the run of the mill radio,

A square edged, 2-pin power lead as required, INCLUDING a cigarette light plug for only $1.21...if you buy 1000 ;) Bargain.

The squarer ones will be harder to find for the same price as the rounded ones which are far more commonplace.
You can also use the 12v plugs and leads from vehicular mini- fridges but the lead is usually a little thicker and they're black or grey, not red and black as a rule and are probably more expensive too.
