DSD+ and RAS

Post by NR641_uk »

I am trying to learn how to program a Kydera unit on DMR. I have the software and can read / write an manage analogue channels fine.

In order to work out how to program DMR channels using the software I obviously need to avoid those systems using RAS as the radio will stay silent. I have an Airspy R2 and use DSD+ which enables the CC & TG to be seen. Having had a go using this info my radio stubbornly remains silent! Is there a way of being able to tell from DSD+ if a system is employing RAS and if so how is it displayed in the various DSD+ windows.

Any help would be great before I tear the remainder of my hair out!

Will say (RAS) on the window that shows the CC.

A DMR transceiver will also stay silent trying to receive a DMR repeater if the TX and RX are programmed to the same frequency..

And to add to that it's the same if the CC SL or TG do not match.

Once I put both the TX AND RX frequencies in then everything came good. Previous to that I had them as the same. Many thanks Mike :-)

Isn't RAS merely a tx flag to instruct the receiving radio to ignore the transmission unless it has a matching RAS code? Technically, a DMR scanner could break the protocol and ignore RAS flags, but it mightn't be possible on a DMR-compliant rig.

That's how it works.. Some DMR scanners are better than others at ignoring RAS :)
