Buying from France

Post by lambrettadave »

Has anyone had any problems with buying from France recently.

I bought a rig on the 16th of July and seems to be stuck in Lille, France.

I have bought many rigs from France and never had a issue with the postal service but with covid knocking around.......

I have included a tracking information

Have you tried entering the tracking info directly into the courier's site? That is a very very long time though, so it could possibly have gone missing. My USA Cobra only took about 2 1/2 weeks I think it was.

I've had this before though where nothing happens on the tracking for ages and the next second it's unannounced at the door!

Here's the tracking information from the carrier..

I bought a cobra from USA a couple of months ago and had it with in a week and I also have had a couple of other rigs from France recently during lock down that have arrived ok.

I contacted the seller and he said something about a 2 week quarantine period.

Guess I will have to wait and see

I have had a similar issue with a delivery from Italy. Tracking shows it was last seen in Bari on the 11th August....

The only saving grace is that you can prove its been lost by courier and not have to fight for your money back if needed.

That's not fair. People returning from France have to quarantine for 4 weeks, but radios only get 2. That's racist ;)

Hopefully if that's the case then, at least it's a good reason for it being delayed. The USA have got it bad though, so why no quarantine period at all?
I suppose they're just happy to get shot of all their Covid-infected stuff :)

At least you might only get Covid. Earlier I found what looked suspiciously like the shedded skin of a Black Widow spider inside that American Cobra radio. Small thing with a big body. I hate spiders

I think you're thinking of Redback's rather than Black Widows. I think they're found in most areas of the US nowadays as well as Southern Canada and maybe Nothern Mexico.
I've seen a few False Widows here in Somerset whilst on some jobs (they were quickly dispatched ;) ). They're a cousin of the Black Widow but luckily not as venomous. They can still give you a nasty bite though and a couple of people have been hospitalised. They could kill a small pet. Horrible things.

Anyway, I digress sorry. I did take a picture of it but it looked even more transparent than in the flesh. Right shape and size though.

The radio is a Mk3 Cobra 148 GTL-DX , or the "Cobtel" as I've nicknamed it. There's a topic a couple of us have been adding to called Cobra 148 fake -

Just to finish the thread, I have received a full refund today as the shipping company has admitted to losing the radio.

:-(

That's a bummer. At least you're not out of pocket.

Now if the radio turns up next week...
