The legalisation of AM and SSB in the UK was first proposed in the late 80's by our radio authorities and then again in the mid 90's but it came to nothing mainly due to concerns over interference to TV services.

When our terrestrial TV system switched to digital they couldn't use interference as an excuse so AM and SSB were legalised in 2014.

Nothing much changed here.

People are still using mostly UK40 or the Freeband between mids and UK on SSB.

I have heard a few DX nets on mids SSB but only occasionally.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

I did give this a go on both frequencies multiple calls and heard nothing, just back of the box Euro. But did speak to many others elsewhere. A mentioned it is really about the DX on the usual slot and surrounding frequencies, a couple of nets a week and a few voices on the UK40. I mainly end up chin wagging with DXers usually if skip is quiet.
