interested in your listing of positive reason to be a ham instead of a user of the 11m band for local and DX. Thanks.

There always is propagation.
Easy to avoid italian yelling.
No monitor freq.
I can work DX all over the world every day.
Bands are government protected. In case of interference I can call communication agency to track source and get rid of it. (In the past I had 15kV transformer replaced, cause it was making huge noise on ham bands)

What Chris said, plus it's a perfect excuse for having a housefull of radio gear and a garden full of aerials.
The perfect face for radio.

Free cardigan and the ability to say you're better than anyone on a cb radio, even though most ham operators came from cb in the first place....

I can't say much though, I did the training for foundation about 10 years ago lol

(For those who can't tell most of the above is a joke)

Wish we had a similar organisation here, We do have ofcom. But all they do is prosecute people for not paying their tv licenses

Definitely agree with the above, although in recent years, cuts to budgets & staff have reduced the capability of our regulator to investigate issues. Contrary to what's reported, they do still assist in solving interference, albeit the licencee has to undertake more of a proactive part.

Loads of other ways to communicate, especially on the shorter wavelength bands such as Satellite communication. Moonbounce, wideband Digital TV etc.
Meteor scatter on bands such as 6m, 4m & 2m
Digital voice technologies such as Fusion, Dstar, DMR etc.

There's a significant number of additional benefits you get once licenced and you can still use 11m.

Radcomic is an optional extra...

If you can't see the benefits then it's not for you, I know now I wouldn't want to be stuck listening to a flat 27.555 and trying to find a sane person on 27.781.15 to talk to in 2020.
Go get a license and progress you'll have plenty to do and you won't have to moan about the other full ticket holders and you can always do your cb when you feel like it.

Their are a few down sides to the hobby though.

Having to explain to people what the hobby involves and getting a black stare that implies you just said your hobby was fisting giraffes :problem:

The equipment is overpriced

The constant smell of old holbourn mixed with werthers originals, Which women find very unappealing

And having to trim your compulsory but sinister looking beard three times a week,
