Re: Glasgow city center Shopwatch Digital
if you do the discrimiator mod .. or buy an sdr dongle.
i honestly reccomend you sell the scanner and get an rtl sdr dvb dongle paxkage £12.45 from cosycave. https://www.cosycave.co.uk/product.php?id_product=282
the dongle dosent Scan as such, but its better, more visual, AND its does USB and LSB modes...easy to save your frequencies too..
the only neg is its not portable.. unl;ess u have a laptop... there is an android app but no digi decoding for android yet.
if you get one try HDSDR software rather than SDR# i much prefer it.

Re: Glasgow city center Shopwatch Digital
yes, you would be able to recieve ANYTHING between 24 and 1700 mhz .. your best bet is to just buy one and play with it,, it will all become clear once you have it.

Re: Glasgow city center Shopwatch Digital
Years ago it was just a case of a scanner and a decent antenna and everything was good.
But now you have the digital age and it gets a little more complex.
With a normal scanner you can still get quite a fair bit, aircraft, taxis, military air buses, and a whole host of simplex pmr stuff local to you.
But a lot of business users and shopwatch systems have went digital and the most common is mototrbo, that's when the dongle etc comes into play.
It is not something that is straight forward but not beyond the reach of the average scanner enthusiast so don't panic to much.
Research and take on board what you have read on here and you can get there.
It is really a case of time and effort and you will see results.
Everyone is different when it comes to preference of scanners/dongles/software etc so take on board any info and make your own mind on what's best for you.

Re: Glasgow city center Shopwatch Digital
You would only need the shift if you were hoping to transmit on their frequency

I’m just trying to learn how to use my new DMR, cause at the moment I can’t hear nothing on it, mate...
And yes I am noob in the programming... Maybe you all are being, before you become a pro and become a bit arrogant...
