I think you will find that if it is linked to a Amateur repeater you do have to have a call sign !MrWeetabix wrote: ↑16 Aug 2018, 08:45If someone tells you that you need/must have a callsign to use this service then you are well within your rights to give them plenty of kick back as that's simply elitist bullsh*t. I can't stand that attitude.marvin wrote: ↑16 Aug 2018, 08:38 Used it through Zello on my phone a couple of times......GB3IW are having a bit of a play on there to boost the amature hobby, I then joined one of the other groups and got poo poo’ed because I dont have an amature callsign..........not used it since ! A tango Mike group would be welcomed by those amongst us who are interested in this corner of the hobby and I am sure that it would be an inclusive place where anyone (Ham or otherwise) could join in and chat.
And to the guy who wanted a sim deal this is a 12 month deal :

Just a word of warning if you are using it mobile...you cant rely on the radio exemption from the handheld law, as it fits the description of prohibited equipment by virtue of the band used.
Make sure you are hands free folks!

True, but I think the chap was on about using Zello groups and such, for which nothing is required, as it's an open system over the internet only. Nobody can tell you that you can't use them without a callsign!

Nothing to do with me but: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/anysecu-3g-w ... SwNA1a~L9gpaulears wrote: ↑13 Aug 2018, 18:39 I just bought one of the Senhaix N60s which are also the one sold by Anysecu - and I fitted it in my van, and I'm really pleased because it's got a big display. I bought a 500Mb a month/12 month SIM for about 16 quid, and that's it. I'm using Network Radios groups - on Zello and it works brilliantly - and there are so many groups you can join, or just listen to it's damn handy. I'm a bit of a new convert, but it seems to do exactly what people say it does.

I've been selling them for a few weeks now and already the price drops as people jump on the bandwagon - I'll probably have to stop because I'm VAT registered so lose 20% of what people pay to the Government. Always happens on Ebay.

Simple answer, download Zello on your smart phone away you go, use existing mobile data and wifi at home.

Re: Thoughts on Network Radios.
Slight issue with Zello on mobile phones, if someone phones you, the phone call takes priority and cuts off Zello, there's also a question of battery usage.
However if you have a turkey close by, its encrypted private setting stops it happening and the fact you can also block someone, is a massive bonus over CB radio IMO -:)
