Calm down chaps. It's OK to have a little light hearted banter, but it's getting a bit OTT in places and I've had to remove a few posts. It's an interesting thread RE 01 so I'd rather keep it going than lock it. So please keep it friendly guys.
Personally, I've never owned/used a Magpie Autoscan so can't comment in relation to them. I did once, however, have the misfortune to use a Fidelity 1000. Indeed they are legendary in many ways!

Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!
Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

Disrespect? Sir, I was paying them the highest possible compliment. It's not often you see the words Fidelity 1000 and legendary together in the same decade! The Collector wrote: β24 Sep 2019, 17:01Calm down yourself Mr.Mod! Re: Magpie autoscan 5000
Well I adore mine.
In fact, I've turned a little corner of my loftshack into a shrine for it and I pop in and say a few words and a prayer to the Fidelity God every night before bed.
I would also offer it sacrifices of local virgins, but they're all little tarts round here so that's buggered that up!

Re: Magpie autoscan 5000
I bought a Commtel at Dorset radio rally [Same as Fidelity 1000 but with 4 knobs and one switch] I gave Β£2 for it because it had the original mic and got to be worth Β£2 for the mic, And to be honest i am finding it a joy to use, My intention was to put the mic in my spare mic box, Pull the signal meter as it is same size as the Uniden style, And speaker and bin the rest, But i cant do it, Ive had a few contacts on it and for once i didnt get blanked out by Joe Bloggs 2 miles away 20 channels up.Oggy wrote: β24 Sep 2019, 19:42The most lengendary radio in h World!astradyne wrote: β24 Sep 2019, 18:09Disrespect?
