Picked this up of good old eBay for £59inc p&p for spare parts...

It's a MK1 and to say its little rough is an understatement, but things like the cases, knobs etc should clean up ok.

Had a badly fitted eprom board which was taken out apparently and seems some other bits have been left behind after it was removed.

New Mckinley EU.

Haven't as yet decided if I'll expand it. Early days but it seems to work well.

I parted with the Albrecht John. The only other "legal" radio I have is my Grant 2 Premium. Hope to compare it to this and my Lincoln II+
It's definitely better build quality though, the Albrecht suffered from wobbly knobs!

Thanks Drew, i just bought an Albrecht, and quite like the way it works, was just wondering how the new radio matched up to the older one. Didnt like the gant 2 it was pretty bad. So hoping the McKinley will be lots better, snd they learned from grant and lincoln.

Just saw that...well done that man.

I also found out that the order you put the pictures up actually gets reversed, so simply attach them in reverse order.

Or is that just me 'cause computers hate me?!? ;)

Edit: just noticed my posts are an hour out compared to my phone. I think this site has an option for British summertime that I can adjust somewhere?...

Edit Edit: time adjusted! :)

Bought a mint-looking and boxed Binatone 5star for £60 but it's missing its mic' if anyone has a nice one. I wouldn't have been able to afford it but I sold a PC graphics card for £40 (that I was given) so only had to shell out the rest plus a bit of postage.

I'll check it all out when it comes, take out any bits that my own boxed one's missing (warranty card etc), add the mic' and resell it on auction at some point. Might make a few quid, might lose a few.

As per the aerial-spotter's thread, got given a K40 with the mount stuck on a groundplane base on a job I attended today . The coil cover's got a crack it in but easily remedied.

Bought a Midland 42 multi for £25 and 1 pence (outbid next bidder down by that all important penny lol). It's "untested" but has an aftermarket longer aerial with it that normally costs about £20 on its own.

Edit: Just noticed mod's, that this section is still entitled "2018". Can it be changed/deleted/new topic started, or shall we just ignore it anyway????

Probably easier for Admin to rename it 2018/2019 & get a new one started in January. Same applies to the Ham Radio section too.

Nice find. The non-FM ones are harder to find as a rule.

I've bought a year-old Imax 2000 for £40 to have a mess with. If I can find someone that can hear me, I'll also compare signals against my old Antron A99 to see if there's much difference. Hopefully there will be a bit as its 6ft longer for a start.

Then, to add some 9ft wire groundplanes hidden in the conifers or not to, that is the question?

Then, see if a tankwhip top section cut to length will help to hide it better... or do I try a 7ft Firestik (if I can find one and if it'll swr ok as it won't flap about like the standard top section does.)?
