The new one I bought wasn't . President have been in this business for more than 40 years now , so they shouldn't need any more than a V1 for any new radio . Time will tell on this one ....

I should have been more precise and said Grant 2 Premium. Mine is pretty good. The earlier standard versions were a bit pathetic. I don't think they are made nowadays.

Mind you, just about every manufacturer of communications equipment have brought out some right howlers and have struggled to get everything sorted and I include Amateur transceiver's costing thousands, not a couple of hundred. Just because a company have been on the go for 40 years does not automatically mean they don't make mistakes. They have all been their and some with way more than 40 years in the business. Yes, they should all know better, yet it still happens.

I think most of the issues with President have been down to sub-contracting the design and manufacturing to reduce costs but hopefully with this one being designed in-house and manufactured by Uniden, it will be a decent radio.

As you say Sammy, time will tell.

Will there be a 4/12w legal version of the McKinley ? Just that the 2 local ops G2 premiums put out about18-20w out on fm.
Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

It will have to comply with those power limits to be a legal radio. It's only when expanded or "adjusted" that power changes.
My Grant 2 Premium was exactly the same until expanded.

Well I hope you enjoyed the three review videos I did, it works well out the box and I like it.
Some have complained about the looks, but to me it looks OK.

Anyway it is not far away now.

Really appreciated the review Dave and I for one like its looks. With the exception of one or two radios, I'm past looking at chrome bling!
Anyway, it will be the price and performance that matters for most I would think. Price seems to vary depending on the site/blog you are on but it does look as though somewhere around 249 euro (whatever that will be in Sterling with the various charges etc.)

No doubt we will see the adverts from the dealers shortly.

Cheers

^^ £250 at the most if it does 50/60 watts on a variable like the anyclones, and covers 12/11/10m.

Will they even sell 5 thousand in the UK.......?

That just has killed it, that should make the euro price over €300. Even they wont buy it at that kind of money. It would need to be the best performing radio on the market with huge export specs.
Kill em all and let god sort them out.

It only does around 20w when put into export mode!

As for sales, they'll be lucky to sell a couple of dozen in the UK at that price. Maybe 6 months down the line the price will drop when they haven't sold many?

They wont sell any if no one buys one........then the price will soon fall ;)

If anyone is looking to sell these radio new in the UK and you want them to sell, then its £229 at the max(£200 and they will really sell imo) as it only does 20w.

I agree with those pricing points but apparently UK operators are climbing over each other to pay €319 plus shipping if you believe some comments online?

I've not heard of a single person in the UK who's ordered one but I guess if the comments are true, YouTube will be flooded with McKinley videos next week 😀

Has anyone on here ordered one? If so please let us know.....
