Which antenna ? wilson 1000 or sirio 5000 ?

As i am getting too much crap coming in homebase i am going to go mobile with my Optima mk2/3 ? i have 2 antennas in mind a wilson 1000 or a sirio 5000 any thought as to which is best or is there any other antenna i should consider ?

Got the same issue here with noise, got a qrm eliminator on it's way but in the meantime i've purchased the sirio 5000 for the disco 2 and i've gotta say i'm pleased with the performance out of it. Tested it against a 1/4 wave whip while static mobile with no real difference to the signal my mate was receiving me on so i'd say it works well enough. No experience with a wilson so i can't comment unfortunately but you won't be dissapointed with the sirio.

I fancy one of the new Sirio 4000 Megawatt "Rigid" aerials personally, but I cant find a seller in the UK as yet. It does away with the ugly adjustable angle "joint" and looks much better for it. It's almost as tall as the 5000 but should be more aerodynamic. I emailed a shop on ebay but they never got back to me after saying they'd contact their supplier and get me a price as they'd never heard of it.

Sirio 4000 megawatt I bought last month. Getting on fine with it although I do feel I may miss the ajustment of whip length as you say it's solid.

But it is excellent indeed. Reading on net some prefer the 5000 due to thicker less flimsy whip as apparently it remains more vertical at speed supposed better that way in performance.
Can't knock mine ,love it .

Which is best ? = depends on who answers your call Warlock when testing one antenna vs another one,better trying your testing with several breakers in different locations,who are all on at the same time.

Have used both antenna but not up against each other so can't say whats best,but I will say the Sirio 5000 based on price.

HI Buick Mackane, I did try to join the local Hungarian Dance club BUT there was such a wait to join because of the number of these men wearing skirts i beleave that they were from scotland so i thought blow that so i went and joined the local radio club instead, Guess what half the buggers there were scotish to , Anyway you did not answer my question as to witch is the best antenna to use mobile do you think ? I am a bit thick/slow /im only a 73 year old fenland boy that is why i ask so many questions i was tought if you dont ask you will never know so i ask .

Buy a box of tampax, Soak them over night in vinegar, Put them all in a straight line and sellotape them together, Now get some thin copper wire and wrap it round them till you have 22uh of inductance, Heat shrink them and susans yer brother and bobs yer mum

Static mobile, on Ikea car park to be precise!! it's higher than my qth. I can't drive with it on as i'd hit the phone lines etc in my friends cul-de-sac when i visit as it's all bungalows

what you driving a truck all phone lines are a set hight if not they have to be , ive been in a few streets and roads and my 5000 hasnt been an issuse on my vectra , and i would go for a 4000 tbh theres not much difference in performance between the 5000 and 4000

Maybe he hasn't tried both antenna George,hence the sh1te reply.
