Superb radio had two over the years. As above for wideband mod. A few have had to have the multi function control replaced but other than that 100% recommended . If it's just for 11mtr use try look out for a dx70t as opposed to a dx70th. Th model covers 100 watts on 6 mtrs and fetches a bit more. They are getting a on a bit now so just try find the cleanest one available .

Price £250 ish £300 max .. personally would not pay any more as your getting into ft857 etc territory .

They have a sh1t hot receiver, But the build quality isn't great, Very flimsy plastics on the front panel. And a few functions can only be accessed internally, And as stated above the multi function encoder can cause grief, They're ok for the money, But if it was me i'd get the 450 repaired,

You sure ? Never paid over £500 for one used and had a couple off them over the years and that s several years ago so again £400 tops remember they have been around for a while now .The new improved ft891 admittedly without vhf/uhf which I had last month was sold for just over £400 and that was only two months old with receipt !

Sell you a lovely FT950 at £580 if you want to go straight for a proper radio !!

Another one to throw in the mix is the ICOM 706 mkiiG. these work very well with the LDG autotuner for playing with verticals, inverted V dipoles etc on 11

Got a mint condition dx70 last night for £100 (from a house clearance of a silent key),and it still has the screen protector on it/plastic on back.Has a service sticker from Castle Electronics from 2008.

The person I bought it from said he "had already cut up the 3 section hand crank tower and "huge" antenna on top for scrap" :o

Was told to make an offer over the phone....if it was to help out the silent key's family.......it would have been more like £200 -£250,but he said it was a bonus as he already got paid to clear the house, hence my "lower" offer ;)
