True and the listing has gone now, always a challenge is ebay, you have to read between the words to get an idea of what is being sold, good, bad or ugly.

mostly ugly but some gems still appear.

The thing is that the 'good' radios made in the 80's are now approaching 40 years old, it's inevitable that they're not going to perform as they once did, time takes it's toll on anything so a few faults is to be expected (previous butchering/screwdriver-ing jobs excluded) that's why if one is working fine then best stay out of the innards and enjoy what you got, as once adjustment pots / cans and components start getting disturbed other problems can creep in. With electronics of certain age the caps dry out and a replacement of all is one of the good things to do - but only if it has to be done - and is done properly. I've seen more 'solder experts' work than I've had hot dinners, good solder works I've seen a lot less of.

I'm jealous. Magpie is considered the best UKFM ever made, by many. And its the rarest.
When I had a collection of UK CBs I hunted for one and couldn't find one.

I saw the adverts for that Mercury back in the 80s, but I thought they were fantasy until now.

Untested is usually a euphemism for knackered.
Or it could mean it has been used in the past and not been tested before being put up for sale.
Anyway I'm pleased to report it's now been tested and working very well at my home qth  nice price paid too

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

I've never owned or used one, but they do look nice and I've always heard reports of them being good quality radio's.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

£99 incl. postage was a bit steep for me. I stopped watching it after my £25 monthly limit lol.

Having experienced one for a few days I'd have paid what the op paid for his. They are rather nice on receive, I connected mine to a decent speaker and it sounds very nice. Tonight I have been using it to chat around Europe as the band has been wide open.
I'd love to own and use a boxed minter.
If one comes up put my name on it....

There's been 2 Magpie mic's for sale on ebay in the last few weeks, one for £15 and the other for a tenner plus postage. I think the latter may still be running.

I've only got one excellent nick boxed Magpie myself (never felt the need to collect more than 1 of each personally), but I have 5 I think it is now of the EMS Mercury in its 3 colour variants (4 if you include the mirror gold and satin gold finished front panels) and 2 different coloured cases. There are 2 rare portable versions are amongst them.

Bought the one for 15 last week.. 2 are the very low numbers (no.2 and no.4) and 2 others new boxed never turned on. With not that many made a good collectable. Anyone know where No. 1 is if it`s still around

Mine hasn't got a serial number on it for some reason, so does that make it no.0 ? ;)
