Re: Edinburgh taxis
I think all Edinburgh taxis use a form of data messaging not radio. There is a taxi company that operate in Musselburgh and surrounding areas that are on 164.5500

Funny as someone who gets paid for listening to a taxi radio all day I cannot see why you would want to listen to us !!!!!!

Re: Edinburgh taxis
Yes Elliotg. I was speaking to a taxi driver on Friday at my work as we sometimes have them to courier things to and from other departments in areas of Edinburgh outwith our own. It's a device that works like an e-pod (electronic Proof Of Delivery) ( It looks like a smartphone , but obviously isn't.) It's akin to a modern day pager. But you are spot on with the data messaging system that Taxi's use. That was Central taxis, and I suspect others like radio cabs are the same.elliotg wrote:I think all Edinburgh taxis use a form of data messaging not radio. Re: Edinburgh taxis
Over on the west there is mostly data but still a few on fm.
The main Glasgow city black cabs is data with a couple of voice channels in case they need to contact the office.
440.xxx and 442.xxx if I mind correctly

Re: Edinburgh taxis
I think 164.5500 many be "Burgh taxis", Whilst waiting for the Carwash in Tesco Musselburgh on Sunday, I noticed one of their cabs had a lengthy antenna!
